This unprecedented exhibition, commissioned by Nelly Nana-Wandji -who is deeply committed to promoting contemporary African art and design - will showcase more than forty exceptional pieces carefully selected by a committee of expert artistic visionaries, such as the textile designers Aissa Dione and Chrissa Amuah; the author of the book"Contemporary Design Africa" Tapiwa Matsinde; Romain Julhia of RJCraft, in charge of international relations at the Révélations Biennial, andChristophe Person, head of the Contemporary African Art Department at Artcurial. Bringing together timeless mediums and new approaches, curiosities and remarkable pieces, the works presented will showcase a new generation of artists and designers whose common characteristic is emphasizing content that recounts contemporary and creative history with elegance and finesse.

About Nelly Wandji (Cameroon/France) : 
Nelly Nana-Wandji is an independent curator and consultant to cultural and design industries. Born in Cameroon, a graduate in international business studies, luxury marketing and management, she lives and works in Paris. After several years in selective retail with a Swiss group, in 2014 she foundedMoonLook, a platform for promoting and advising on brand image. After several pop-up events, in 2017 she opened her Cabinet of Curiosities, settled in the Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and extended her expertise in the field of fine arts and crafts. In 2020, she joined the Art & Exception initiative and set up the "EXCEPTIONS D'AFRIQUE" touring exhibitions project: timeless items, contemporary perspective" to encourage and promote African art and craft workshops. As a curator, Nelly is interested in the decorative arts as well as techniques that showcase African traditions, the passing-on of skills, the bringing up-to-date of cultural heritage and the development of African creative economies.

ART & EXCEPTION is an independent initiative that aims to promote craftmanship and creativity, facilitate the preservation of cultural heritage and transform the potential of creative industries. Their actions are developed around 3 strategic aspects :
